Curriculum

The student forms most of  his basic beliefs, concepts, and life principles before he reaches the secondary level of education. At the elementary school level, great emphasis is placed on the basic fundamentals of education. The A Beka Book curriculum is used. This begins with Bible study every day. A strong phonics program that begins at the first grade level produces excellent readers; a mathematics program which uses traditional methods and provides a quality mathematical base.  Penmanship, history, science, spelling, and language are additional elementary subjects.  Each week every grade will have: chapel, library, art, and class singing.  Homework, report cards, concerned teachers, and informed parents are the rule and not the exception.  High standards and effective discipline are hallmarks of the elementary program. It is our desire to train students to be diligent.  Givhans Christian School hopes that all of the students will use their abilities to the fullest extent and not be content with just getting by. We offer you a choice of a proven educational program designed for the average student, but producing above average results.  This is all accomplished in a warm Christian atmosphere.
